I'm usually not a huge Valentine's Day person. I might be a romantic at heart and love cheesy books and movies, but in the end I feel like grand gestures often come off feeling rather manufactured and stiff in real life. Still, it is nice to have a day to think about those you love the most. Ellie was the cutest little Valentine ever, and Brian and I had a quiet, but nice, dinner at home together. Brian wanted breakfast for dinner, so I made lemon-strawberry-cream-cheese-stuffed-overnight-croissant-french-toast. Whew. That's a mouthful. A delicious mouthful. I also remembered that five years ago to the day, Brian held my hand for the first time. And as cheesy as it is, I made Brian sit down while I played him "Always" by Irving Berlin on the piano. I love the lyrics to this song, and thought they were appropriate for Valentine's Day:
I'll be loving you always
With a love that's true always
When the things you've planned
Need a helping hand
I will understand always
With a love that's true always
When the things you've planned
Need a helping hand
I will understand always
Always
Days may not be fair always
That's when Ill be there always
Not for just an hour
Not for just a day
Not for just a year
But always.
That's when Ill be there always
Not for just an hour
Not for just a day
Not for just a year
But always.
